VALORANT Champions Seoul

OVERVIEW

Game and sport collide in Korea to create something you won't want to miss

Champions Seoul represented a pivot in our strategy for esports events. We were hungry for more integrated Game + Sport moments, and this year's Champions was where we would put that into action. In the initial creative platforming, I teamed up with Kim Koszoru to find a new thread of expression that did just that. We landed not on a hoo-rah platfrom, but on this promise of an idea. This idea of a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The collision of Game and Sport. A Supernova.

"The #SportsEmmys Award for Outstanding Esports Championship Coverage goes to VALORANT Champions 2024 Grand Final"

In a first for our campaign identity, we pulled heavily from the agent that we would later announce at grand finals. Metallic thorns and vines graced every Supernova backdrop, framed every print, and was the key identifying element of the new agent VYSE. WIth our most basic design cues coming from the Game, we took a crack at upleveling the sport by overhauling the art ethos entirely. Rather than pulling from that year's music video, I decided to see if we could bring the VALORANT art style to our campaign asset kit through a series of agent illustrations that would anchor the experience of the event.
